removing lower unit '76 merc 1150

there is a bolt that holds the trim tab that<br />seems impossible to get at....very small hole<br />about 5" deep. think it's 3/8" but not sure.<br />does anyone know? do I just need a REALLY thin<br />socket? any help is appreciated.

cleaned out the gunk and looked in w/flashlight,<br />it's definately a bolt.... on my way to sears.<br />hope a thin wall socket will get her out ;)

ok, so the engine gods have a sense of humor.<br />turns out that this motor has a short shaft<br />with an extension kit (which I've never heard of)<br />so instead of the Hex being 2 inches from the top<br />where you can see it, it's about 6 1/2" down<br />and the extender covers the outside of the hex<br />giving you the "optical illusion" that it's a<br />bolt.... also, there is apparently an extension<br />for the drive shaft at the top....and this was<br />supposed to be an easy job!!!! :eek: :eek: <br />so now I need help lining up the drive shaft<br />when I re-install it... and it's not going in easy<br />any help would be GREATLY appreciated folks!
