Garage sale find for 40.00 makes me a happy camper. Starts up and runs fine. Not pumping water. I will check the tstat first . I see in the parts diagram the shift rod is two pieces. I remember on my very old 40 and 35 HP's there was a plate which when removed revealed the clamp which connected the two halves of the shift rod.How does this l/u come down and where is there access to the clamp on this motor?
