Removing live well pump

I've burned out the motor of my Rule 500gph Aerator Pump but can't figure out how to remove it. It's situated up against the rear transom (inside the rear hatch) near the sump pump, so it's hard to see and get to. I've removed the hose from the pump leading to the well, but the pump won't budge either by trying to turn it or by pressing down on it. It has the clip holes but no tabs to press, and no screen or quick disconnect so just the pump motor can be replaced. I bought the 17' '06 Sea Fox second hand and the pump recently burned out, but don't know if it's a straight connect or side. There doesn't seem to be any kind of bracket, so I thought it must screw in, but no luck so far.
I went to West Marine in Venice, Fla. but they are no help except to sell me a new pump and motor (which does me no good if I can't get the old one out!). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The pump intake is threaded, passed through the transom, and secured with a nut on the outside. Remove the nut and pull the entire pump assembly. Insert the new one, seal the intake and install the nut again.

Is one where you can just change the motor?
If so there is a small tab on the side that keeps it from turning, you need to lift that and twist it and the motor should come out.
Always fun to work on things in the bilge.
