I'm a retard and have 1985 30 HP Evinrude outboard with electric start. I wanted to clean the carb but couldn't figure out how to get the starter off. So I removed the bottom bolts to drop the starter and was able to get to the carb nut. However, went to put start back on and it seperated about a quarter to half an inch on the bottom and doesn't want to slide back up. I want to completely pull it out to see if I can get it back together.

Can someone show me pictures or diagram as to what bolts to remove to get the starter completely off so I can try to get it back together?

Any advice about getting it to get the start to fit back together?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

You'll have to take the starter AND the bracket off. Then get the starter back together correctly and attach it to the bracket and install as an assembly on the mtr. But put your carb back on first.

Also, for diagrams to reference. Checkout the http://shop2.evinrude.com/ website and look-up
"OB Accessories" and find the electric start kit for your motor.
That will have blow-up diagram of the starter assembly.
