I am looking for some advice. My wife and I recently bought a 2004 Tahoe Q4 SF. We love the boat, but I don't really like having carpet in my boat. We spend a lot of time tubing, and I have noticed that the carpet gets really wet.
So, I am considering taking the carpet out of the boat. I know the the newer tahoe boats come with snap-in carpet. My questions are:
1. What does the floor under the carpet look like? (Is it an unfinished surface)
2. If I take the carpet out, is there something I can put on the floor to make it slip resistant?
3. Can I do this without a lot of costs?

I am not the most mechanically inclined person, so I appreciate any advise you can give.

Your boat is new enough that the floor under tha carpet should be finished gelcoat with a textured surface. The surface is usually molded in from the factory. Lift up a small portion under a seat or under the foot rest of the dash & check it out. Maybe under the engine shroud (if I/O).

Your carpet may be glued in place, so be prepared to either glue it back down of have some solvent ready to get the glue off of the floor.

So I checked under the carpet and it is plywood. Now I am thinking about taking the carpet out and either using Durabak or having Rhino spray it. Any suggestions.

Good day,

I did the same thing on my Bayliner... You can check out the results in the link below my signature line... Durabak is a great product. I would use one coat of texture and top with 1-2 coats of non-texture... My Hurricane came with snap-in carpet.. I removed it the day it came home, put into storage, and never plan to install unless I sell her...

Good luck!
