Removing Alpha 1 Lower unit... HELP!!!!!!!

I am trying to replace the impeller in the lower unit on my 1990 Alpha I. I got all the Nuts of the bolts but the unit will not come down... I have tried everything.... It seems like it is hanging up in the very front.. Opposite the prop end.... Just wont budge... I NEED HELP!!!!!!!! Before I break it....<br /><br />Tallman

Did you take that nut off at the very front of the lower by the speedo tube?Are you in forward gear?

NO I am not in forward gear, The manual did not say anything about this....<br />Yes I got all the nuts off... I will try the forward gear thing....<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Tallman

I've been working on putting my lower unit back on and am having a problem aligning the drive gear mechanism. Any helping suggestions? Thanks.
