I'm slinging grease all over the inside of my rims. I'm told that my rear seals are gone and need replaced, and while I'm at it I may as well replace the bearings since I'm already there. My problem is my bearing buddies. I remember how difficult they were to install. Extremely tight. I have no idea how to get them back out to access the bearings and seals. Thanks for any advice.

You have to walk them off. I usually get a 2x4 and put it on the side of the bearing buddy and hit it with a hammer. Then move the board to the other side and hit it. Repeat moving it back and forth and it will walk off.

Strap wrench works pretty well for taking them off.

rubber mallet or 2x4 and a hammer works best like they said walk it off one side then the next should take you maybe 5 minuites to get it off that way, or if you dont mind if they get markd up take a set of channel locks and maybe an old rag for between them and the bearing buddies and twist it. most likely the channel locks wont work till its about half way off, its a time consuming project but its better to do it then to wish you had done it when a problem occures.

Dead blow hammer. Any hardware store, not very expensive.

The new "used" trailer I just picked up has Bearing Buddy on it and one side came off easier than the other. The side that came off easy the grease was all deluted and runny. Don't know at this time whether it was the Bearing Buddy that was leaking or the seal but I will monitor that one. Bearings all looked fine. Put new seals in and repacked. Took just a few hours to finish.
