My 2001 BF50 has anti tamper plugs over the mixture screws of the three carburetors.
How are they removed?

hello
most now are soft enough to drill through then use a self tapping screw to thread in and pull them out with pliers. years ago the plugs on auto's were case hardend and needed a special cutter to remove.
good luck and keep posting

I've been told that removing those plugs carries a $10,000 fine each.California is very stringent on their emmision laws.I believe that you can remove them only with the consent of honda tech services and you must replace the plugs after adjustments are made.

Re: Removeing anti tamper plugs?

Asking for and receiving technical advice doesn't violate any laws.
Asking a dealer for workshop proceedures I'd expect the legalese. Weather it be mixture screws or water pump replacement.
But I'm on iboats asking this question. And here on iboats it's very normal to get complete, correct and expert advice on anything. ;)

And it is a fair question. Go to any Harley technical site and you'll be granted a hundred different (smog illegal)performance upgrades. Same with an automobile. Powerchips anyone?

Quite seriously, I doubt if I'd let anyone work on my Honda other then me. And this would include any warranty work.
I've not seen a labor rate high enough to substantiate the level of care that I expect or provide. :p

rodbolt, these are semi rotating false or dummy screws. Not really a plug.

Thanks hondon, I'll leave them be for now cause it's running soooo fine.
Pulled the plugs a month or so ago and I wouldn't be able to improve on that mixture.
Just wanted the info for future use, thanks.
