Remove REV-Limiter ? 2001 50hp

Have a 2001 Merc 50 2-stroke 3 cylinder.
Rev limiter is set at 5700 rpm.
I am up against the limiter with the low performance aluminum prop (10.5 x 15). May replace it with a more efficient prop.

Anyone ever disconnect the limiter, and push it to higher rpm?

6,000 ? 6500 ?

If so, what is the proper way to disconnect?

Roscoe, that would scare the crap out of me, these new improve Mercurys are built more like a 1950s farm tractor inside, than a outboard, I don't think the robotic assemblied engines will take the abuse we used to give the older generation engines

It will save me some money, and headaches, and time - that is better spent fishing.
