When i changed mine i raped a chain around the mid section, BEtween the powerhead and the shivel point on the mid section. Avoided useing polts on the flywheel and chancing the bolts ripping out and tearing up the threeds

Some powerheads are tapped for a lifting ring, usually aft of the flywheel.

Re: Remove Motor Help

You need a lifting ring that attaches to the flywheel. Might be able to get one or rent one from an OMC dealer.

Re: Remove Motor Help

on this 60* engine there are 2 lifting wholes casted in the block

i believe 1 is close to the starter and the other one is oposite of it.

you cannot atach a lifting ring on this flywheel
you would have to take the cover of and the optical timing wheel and blah blah blah

As Dutch said, there are two cast in places to attach chains. That motor weighs 400+ pounds, so make sure you have strong enough stuff
