My question is : how do I remover the whole control. The handle is off.

1987 Starcraft 22? V-8 I/O, Offshore? Cuttycabin.
Model: SC-221
Motor: OMC Drive System 8 cyl. V4 5 Liter (305cu?, 4 bl carb)
Engine Model: # 504APARY
Out Drive: 5.0 Cobra / 5.OL 984542

?3404 OMC 1986-98 Repair Manual? is not correct for this remote control.
Remote Controls.jpgMy remote control locked in reverse while I was leaving dock side. The handle moved but would not go to neutral or forward. Throttle would advance and retract but the handle would not set in its normal position.

Removal of Remote Control for inspection, cleaning or replacement?

#11 Mounting Flange ? = Only has a bottom left side screw holding a one inch or so thin gage plate that looks to hold the (mounting flange #11) from turning. The top and right screw holes are plugged with plastic and nothing is behind them.

It looks like OMC updated the assembly of this part during the manufacturing of the boat and plugged the holes with plastic.

Re: Removal of Remote Control

Should be a center plate that pops off covering the pivot screw. Unscrew and remove slowly may have some broken plastic. If nothing seems broken try and re-assemble. Working on mine in a couple of weeks. 1987 3.0 OMC with original morse control. Going to replace with teleflex SL3 with trim.

Re: Removal of Remote Control

Can you post a picture of your control?

You may want to try disconnecting the 2 cables at the engine side to see if that allows the control to move properly.
