Hello everyone,
I'm going to be installing a mercury longshaft extension kit on my 2004 15HP outboard. I know I'm going to have to drop my lower unit, so does anyone have any advice, tips, or recomendations before I actually attempt this feat. Is there anything I should have before hand; grease, gear oil, loctite, or any special tools. I'm going to be winging this so I can use all the help I can get.
BTW, the reason I'm converting my shortshaft to a long shaft is my shortshaft outboard is too small for my inflatable tunnel which is rated for a shortshaft motor. The rep for my inflatable says that the newer lower HP Mercury outboards changed out their mounts that actually rides their motors 2 inches higher than their suppose to be. any truth to this?
Thanks,
Jeff
