Re: removable downriggers?
I did that once for a fishing trip on a boat that wasnt mine, the owner did not want holes in his gelcoat so we mounted the slide in scotty mounts on a 2X6 and lashed the board to the stern boat cleats, it works ok if your just doing it for a day or so, but it makes more sense to just bite the bullet and drill the holes in the gell coat, just remeber to use a good backing, like plastic cutting board material.<br />Most downrigger mounts allow you to remove the downrigger leaving just the mount inplace, but Scotty also makes downriggers that just c-clamp onto the sides of your boat, i would only use them if i was fishing pretty shallow with minimum weight. ie i dont use them!<br />
