I just had to replace an ignition switch on the remote control of a 1979 70 horse Johnson.(I broke the other one trying to "repair" it).Anyway,I got the new one, OMC,not after market, in the mail and supposedly it replaces all ignition switches from 1977 to 1996. The original ignition switch serial #is 0306559 while the new one is #0508180. I followed the instructions on the package in attaching the wires to the poles on the ignition switch, but somehow it seems that the wiring on the old switch was set up differently.Almost as if it is for the newer remote controls with the lanyard kill switches.
To make a long story short, does anyone have a color code and a wiring blue print for aforementioned 1979 70 horse Johnnie switch that they could possibly get on the net?
Thank you, Rolmops.
