I am needing a diagram/schematic of my remote control. I have the OMC manual, but it shows a side mounted unit, mine is flush mounted.

I need to know how to take it apart, so I can see about adjusting cables and/or replacing them.

Go to the BRP parts manuals site and select "advanced" in the search block. Type "remote control" in the description field and "1986" in the model field below it. Leave the other fields blank.

This will list all of the controls with the parts diagrams and parts lists. You can download the parts lists to Excel.

Found it, thanks. I was even able to save the pic, import it to excel as well. Now I'll just add that page to my parts catalog and have it handy at all times.

The only question that now remains is how exactly does it come out? Do I pull the handle off and slide it forward out of the sidewall?

Most of them had a set screw at the bottom of the handle that you loosen, and a coverplate on the right side that snapped off.
