Re: remembrance day song.....bringing buddy home.
You beat me to it NW!!
Hopefully all Canadians coast to coast and abroad take some time today to acknowledge and pay tribute to the many and great people who lost their lives in order that we should live in so gifted a country.
My demographic and age (50 yrs old) was too young to see any service. Regardless I am always in awe of those who went before us in WW1 and WW2.
I'm hoping to attend a remembrance day service at least once at the Canadian war memorial in Vimy ridge...which is still (I am told) one of the most awe inspiring places in the world to see.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Take care guys and give many, many thanks.
