Looking for a 250 HP or higher outboard.

Anyone deal with any of these remanufacturer sellers?

New motors are close to 20,000.
Used motors seem like such a risk, I see a lot of recent year models for sale that have had power heads redone or replaced which also makes me wonder about going new, like are they going to blow a power head.

Re: Remanufactured Outboards

get a good warranty by a company that will back it up. Any particular brands you have looked at?

New motors do fail. Sometimes from operator error (no oil). But often when a new motor fails, the manufacturer takes it back, and fixes for resale. That might be more reliable than a used abused motor.

There is always the risk that the remanufactured is a lemon, which is why you need a good warranty, and maybe you can get a repair history, too.

I am a fan of remanufactured/refurbished items, including outboards. If its any kind of decent deal, you will get a warranty, but you shouldn't have any problems overall, seeing as it has been gone through. I would consider it like new. Just my two cents
