What are the differences between an automotive and marine 4.3l vortec? Where does everone get their repower engines? Surely there is a preferred source?

Head gasket, core plugs, water pump, cam and ALL of the electrical, fuel and ignition components.

Rapido marine in FL has MANY supporters on this board.

Re: Remanufactured Engines

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but after doing a search on Rapido, some of the pics I saw of some of their rebuilds made me a little nervous.

Of course, that has nothing to do with the QUALITY of their rebuilds...just the quality of the blocks they use.

I personally think that the extra 800-1200 bucks for a new marine motor is worth the peace of mind.

Just an opinion, of course.

I just installed my 305 longblock I got from Rapido. I am only 4 hours into the breakin process but it is running perfect so far! Delivered to my front door it was $1480 for the longblock. It only costs 30 dollars extra to have it delivered to the house instead of picking it up at the freight place.

My 350 longblock delivered to my front door last year in March was $1250.00. I haven't used her a lot but I haven't had any problems with the engine.
