Doing a resto on boat and the trailer the boat came on is not configured for the boat. It is tandem axel trailer but axles are in front of the boat engines which makes it "unfun" to tow. Has anyone relocated axles?

A little more info is needed. What about your current setup makes it unfun? Pictures of the current setup showing what it is now. Boat size and weight would be helpful also. Do you know now what the weight on the axles and tongue is? Moving how the boat sits on the trailer is usually a lot easier than moving the axles. To answer you initial question I have moved axles in the past. One was a simple task of removing a few bolts and repositioning it, the other grinding and welding.

Yes, a few of us have. There are a few threads on the task and what you will need to do.

If you have some weights (guesstimates of boat & trailer will do, along with current and desired tongue weight) and some dimensions of the trailer & axle position, then you can 'plug and chug' into a formula to determine how far to move your axles.

Here is a link to a thread from 2 years ago . . .
