relocate fuel supply?

After reading the 'need blower' thread I have a question.

I have a '77 bomber bass boat, would it be advisable to relocate my plastic fuel supply to one of my storage compartments and provide proper ventilation and thus reduce the possiblity of spark from batteries & bilge pump in the rear compartmnent where everything is currently housed?

I don't mind sacrificing storage for safety, or am I just being paranoid after reading aforementioned thread?

Thanks,

Re: relocate fuel supply?

blowers are only required on inboard motors, not outboards. batteries should be in battery box.

I think that thread has gone a bit too far... I have never heard of an outboard boat that had blown up because it needed ventilation... Your bilge pump is a marine pump and it is sealed, no sparks from it. As far as your battery sparking, only if you are messing with cables or such, if your cables are secured no chance from that plus if you have your battery in a battery box much, much impossible... save your space for something useful...
