Reinstalling my Volvo 275 outdrive

This fall I pulled my outdrive for some winter maintenence. I built a rolling stand to enable me to roll the entire outdrive right out from behind the boat.

My question is, should/can I reinstall the outdrive the same way or should I leave the upper gear box off and install it after installing the lower and intermediate assemblies. This is the first time I've had the whole outdrive removed.

Thanks.

I put them on while all together, but for a first timer, you might find leaving the upper off is much easier. Then, you aren't fighting the shift cable, water hose, and ujoint yoke all lineing up and going on at the same time. It also could save the bellows in case something were to pinch it and put a hole in it.

Thanks Don, I will do them seperatly for the reasons you mentioned. With any luck, I'll never have the lower and intermediate off again. But then, never say never.
