reinstalled lower unit after new impeller noise??

Hello again I just installed my new impeller in a pre alpha one drive "drive is stamper 165hp" and ran it on the muffs tonight, I am hearing a tick,tick,tick noise that is eaqual to the engine speed .Drive was half way down and engine did not exceed 1500 rpm .Ican hear the noise in the lower leg any sudgestions would be great,also the noise did not change with trim angle changes or turning ,I stoped there and have not tried engaging forward or rev

Does that mean you DID NOT have this noise before the impeller change? Only after?

I did not hear it or recal hearing it before the impellar change, i am going to get up in the boat again today and see if the gear selector is free and centered, maybe i was just out of gear also did up my prop to 60 ft lbs with the drive in reverse,could that have anything to do with it , i did not think it would but maybe?

It may be the shift cable is out of adjustment a little. With it running, and in neutral, move the shift lever on the engine back and forth (slop in the cables) and see if it goes away.
