I have just got my 4 hp johnson seahorse running with the help of ya'll, and thanks. But after running 3 tanks of gas through this motor,I noticed on the top housing the information sticker say's to use regular gas only? as we all know...regular gas is not aroung anymore. am I just being silly? or is using unleaded gas going to do anything harmful?
model # 4w79d
thanks,
no4njnk

No4njnk..... By regular, they're saying that you do not need to use Hi Test. They are not saying to use "leaded". Use 87 octane unleaded with perfect peace of mind.

Re: REGULAR GAS???

Joe reeves...thanks. I just noticed this today and I just got the motor going and it freaked me out. I didnt know if a 1979 motor would need an additive or anything to make up for the differance in the gas from the 1970's.
thanks again,
no4njnk

Re: REGULAR GAS???

all of your older motors ran leaded gas the leaded was used to seal rings etc.once unleaded gas was introduced manufactures made motors which didnt need lead
