Refinishing wood skis

What should i use to refinish a pair of wooden water skis The finish right now just rubs off.

probably an old pair of varnished skis. they did not hold up well to constant sun exposure. Valspar marine varnish is what most use back then. if they are still entact, get them resealed, before water gets into them. i still have the original learners and my 1st set of Cypress Gardens. 50 years old.

I have an old Cypress Gardens Eldiablo(sp?) that my parents used, when I was a kid. Great ski, but I noticed the other day that there is a small piece splintering off the back. Will regular wood glue work to put it back together or should I use something else??

What are these old wood ski's worth anyway? I would never sell them, just curious, if there is any value. I also have an old Wood Connelly Hook, that is in Excellent condition.

That was one mean hot ski. I had been skiing on Maharajas when someone rented a Hook and brought it along. I nearly tore my ankle off with that thing. You'd think turn and that ski would leap. I spent the rest of that trip with my ankle in a cooler full of ice.

Wow found out after sanding all the grime away they were made of mahogany.

No stain just oil spare urathane. And wow they came out frigin awsome!!!

3 coats (sanding inbetween 220 grit lightly) Glass like surface.

Should i wax or buff them??

the varnish they coat ski's with is called glatex 8, i refinished my wood ski's 10 years later and still perfect ....
