Reel, Ebay purchase

Just bought a used ABU Garcia, (Ambassadeur) 4600 on Ebay for $31.00 including shipping! I really like these reels and they hold up really well, two the ones i already have are 20+ years old!

Is it a green one? I've got a green 4600CB which i've had for about 15 years... Would'nt trade it for anything else.. <br /><br />Like my 6500 too..

They came in most colors of the rainbow! Black, Red, Green Blue, silver, and i beleive gold! I,m sure you have taken care of yours as I do! I take them apart about three times a year and clean and lube them! Ive come up with my own mix of grease and oil! When I get them new I take them apart and run toothpaste through the gears on an old sewing machine motor I have set up at a slow speed! Then clean and relube them! This polishes the gears and makes them even smoother! (Ultrabright)!

I bought a really nice Cardinal BB spinner last year for surf casting. First Abu I ever bought and I am really pleased. Smooth as silk and I can cast a mile with it. They have a well deserved rep.

everyone that has posted on the ABU-Garcia has liked them. so i pulled out my old one to see what it is. anyone have any opinions on a 5000D? it is stamped 'made in sweden'. i have been saving it for striper trolling.<br /><br />i used to use it alot for heavy mono(17#) spoon chunkin on the vast lilypad swamp areas. but now that i think about it - i kinda quit using it after losing the hawg of a lifetime on the FL haypond that time...

The 5000D is a great reel, I see a lot of guys using them for steelhead fishing here in the west! They are a wide spool version and are not a thumb bar but I believe have the release on the side! They sell anywhere from $30.00 to $60.00 on Ebay depending on the condition!
