Re: reed valves

Best suggestion I can make is ask your question in the correct forum. You have an outboard, and this is the inboard & inboard outboard forum.

Well actually, I have an inboard and an i/o. I've heard it called an "L" head also.
If you mean it's a 2 stroke , you're right about that. But since the motor is inside the boat I assumed this to be the proper forum. I will try the other forum since it seems
to make a difference where I ask a question.

Just from what you have said...Do you have a Force L-Drive? If so..Dont waist your money on it!

Not shure but I think your getting the wrong impressions?

I/O means Inboard Outboard. The engine is in the boat and the outdrive is outside the boat like a outboard.

"Straight" Inboards have the engine in the boat with a straight driveshaft running thru the hull down to the propeller.

L-Drives are like a Inboard/Outboard but it has a two stroke engine mounted inside the boat with a sterndrive (Outboard) mounted outside the boat. Hope I did not confuse you. But most people think when you say I/O YOu mean a four stroke engine.

Re: reed valves

cut the guy a little slack, huh? he's on the right page, he owns an L drive [heck, all the ones left gotta be owned by somebody] that operates well enough to keep its owner using it enough to complain about fuel consumption!
That being said, trent is correct in that investing in reeds will not improve economy...save the bucks for gas!
