This is an idea for a cheap fishing rod holder for your boat: I have a Richline with a wood floor. I like to have up to 8 poles ready go with different lures and test lines.

First, get a cement foundation block with two holes in it from Home Depot for $2.00. Next, buy an 8' PVC pipe with a 2" inside diameter. Cut the PVC into 8 pieces (4- 12" long and 4' 15" long). Put the brick in your boat with the narrow opening down. Place all 8 pipe pieces in the holes. Two 12" and two 15" in each hole. They fit snug in the bottom and loose at the top. This setup allows you to have your poles vertical, near you and on any side of the boat you want. The different lengths of PVC allow room for the reels and permit the handles to fit in the holes without the button being pushed. No more tangled lines:) Try this out yourself! Or, I'll mail you my rod holder for $10.00 plus $50.00 shipping;)

Forget the brakes when I hit the gas that thing would go a flyin. I like the achor idea. For the price of the pvc and block you could just buy a rod holder.

I screwed the 12" PVC pieces to a piece of 5/4 PT lumber. These may then be attached to any convenient part of the boat. I used 1/2 copper pipe straps to attach two sets of five to the stern rail of my friends 30 footer. I mounted two sets of four in the rear of my 19 footer, using a piece of 3/4 stock to sandwich the transom bulkhead.

For better looks, take the PVC, dip it into a pot of boiling water for a couple minutes, and stretch it over a beer bottle. It will give it that added curve at the top.

I don't know that I'd put a cinderblock in my boat, but it's a great idea for rod storage in a garage or on a pier.

I think the point is... I've got some concrete blocks out in the yard. I've got some PVC under the porch.

I don't have a rod holder.

Works fer me!
