The red "blood" hooks are nothing new. Ever since I was very young an older person I knew would say to tie a piece of red thread around your hook. The fish would see it an think it was blood.

Now the market sports a red fishing line that says red is invisible under water. Which is it?

Re: red under water?

Water absorbs the red end of the visible spectrum more tha the rest. That is what makes deep water appear blue.

Below about 30 feet the red hooks/thread/line appear black. They do not disappear.

In shallow water red stays red.

Most "features" of most angling equipment are designed to catch anglers, not fish.

I thought they only stay red down to about a few feet?

"Below about 30 feet the red hooks/thread/line appear black." I'm thinking its more like, you have to be much closer to it, or else it blends into the background...think about how things look in the dark - you can't distinguish colors - how it looks to fish...only the fish can say.

What about red fishing line. The manufacture says the red line dissapears at about 3 to 5 feet?

That line has a color additive that requires UV rays to be visible.... so when it's underwater it isn't as noticeable.

Do you recall the brand/name of line you saw?

No, I don't recall the brand name of the line. I saw it on one of those fishing shows.

It may be Cajun line, I have been trying it and I like it, Im catching fish with it and I like the sensitivity and the castability. Reasonable price too.

Yes, I was referring to Cajun line. I've only used it on one outing. I fish clear water lakes and I'm going to try dropshoting with it on Monday morning.
