Red-eyed crappie?

Went out Memorial weekend and caught a few nice sized crappie and bass. One of the crappie had red eyes! Is this common? I am still learning each time I go out, and I thought this was odd. Anybody else caught any red-eyes?

I catch many red eyes but not crappie. The ones I catch are rock bass.

I catch rock bass here too,we call them red eyes.wouldnt it be nice if they grew to 4-5 pounds talking about a fight.<br /> if it is crappie they may be spawning some fish get real yellow to red eyes during the spawn.

The crappie with the red eyes...that sounds familiar...did he by any chance have the munchies? Dry mouth? Brownish stains on his teeth or lips?

come on jtexas, give the poor guy a break! just because he had red eyes doesn't mean he's a stoner. Maybe he have been out riding his motorcycle without goggle or been sleepless because that giant bass been starring at him.
