Hi
I,m going to be switching over to a regulator anyway, but was just curious about the second step .wich is a exerpt from another thread.

HIGH SPEED MISS:

1. DVA check stator voltage to each pack at high speed. If it exceeds 400 volts, replace the pack.
2. Disconnect the rectifier. If the engine fires smoothly, replace the rectifier.

Why would the rectifier cause the engine to missfire ??? I thought it was just to keep the battery charged.

Thanks

Re: Rectifier -- Why??

The rectifier takes its power from the stator which also powers the CDI units. If the rectifier is bleeding or has a direct short to ground it would probably cause problems with the CDI's.
