Looks like the recommended plug for my engine (3.0) is the AC-MR43LTS with a .045 gap. Anyone know the advance auto equivalent of that? Is there a recommended brand to go with?

Get the right Delco plugs. Easy to find unless you are somewhere far, far away.

There is no 'automotive equivalent'... Use the right parts, or sell the boat!

Because people are cheap and stupid, and think saving pennies on parts that could ultimately cost thousands in repairs is a good thing. Yet ask them to buy cheap beer or fags and they're all aghast. :noidea:

But here's the interesting thing. I consider myself both lazy and 'cheap'... Lazy, because I only want to do the job once, and 'cheap' because I want to spend the least to get the best result. So here's what I do. I buy the best 'value for money' parts, and I do the job properly in the first time. I usually buy OEM, which doesn't always mean 'Mercury' branded parts. Most parts on your engine were not made by Mercury, but GM. So if the part comes from GM, and is in a GM box, then it's still OEM.... Electrical parts are also not made by Mercury, some by Hella, some by Bosch, some by Delphi... Getting the part from the ogriginal manufacturer is still OEM.... (And usually plenty cheaper. ;))

Some people may be but others are just asking other people with more knowledge for info. A little more love a little less condescension? Probably would make this board a better one.
