Spilled some gear lube in my bilge the other day while swapping out old lube. I was unable to reach all the lube, and it mixed with some water after our last outing. What is the best product to put in the bilge with water and let it dissolve the oily crud?

Thanks

Use some dawn and sprary more water in. Let it slosh around some and drain it back out. Might need to do it a few times. Rag on a stick might help get the hard to reach spots

It’s a good idea to put an oil sorb pad in the bilge regardless if there are spills or not. But yeah Citris clean works well also and smells good.

Most any degreaser will work, but.....dont pump that out into the lake!!! I use the little pods that we put into our dishwasher, toss one orbtwo into the bilge, add a few gallons of water then take it for a ride, even on your trailer. Drain and rinse the bilge, squeeky clean and smells great!! Just no discharge into the lake please!!

I was suggested once to use Dawn in the bilge like AllDodge said, and add a little water to encourage "sloshing." Then, pull the boat on the trailer for a couple miles :)

I've actually tried it coming back from the ramp a couple times and it seemed to work well.

I've used Tide, Dawn and a couple of other household detergents with fairly good success.

Won a quart of Orpine Bilge Cleaner in a raffle years back. Mix with a couple gallons of water and leave in the bilge for a couple of trips.........works great.

Really helps if you use your wife's long handled bucket brush to give it a good scrubbing before heading out ;)
