Recommendation for force 85

Hello<br /><br />I am looking at an '86 Bayliner Trophy Bass Transit with an '86 Force 85 outboard. I have heard rumours that some force years were problematic. Can someone advise me on this motor and warn me off if necessary?<br /><br />Thanks

avoid all thru 1991, unless you really know your stuff, and feel real lucky.<br />Things got better on most models starting in 1992.<br />Then got even better in 1994 when I believe all models had been switched over to new ignition.

Thanks very much, although I am disapointed because I like the boat. It appears to be in excellent shape with only 100 hours on the boat and engine despite its age. Any suggestion on the price I should pay for this boat given the engine it comes with?
