Marina aint open today, they are still on winter hours, so i cant get a price.

Around-a-bouts, what do they cost and how hard is it to put it in?

Mine broke, on my 5.5 fisherman. I took it apart and see there is a little pin both ends slide onto, one on each part.

Re: Recoil spring broke

Aftermarket one (Sierra #18-6501) goes for around $6.00 online. Probably a bit more from NAPA autoparts, but not much.

Installation is pretty easy. Remove old rope, install pulley, wind three times, install rope, and get your arrow lined up with the J when retracted. Getting the rope through the rubber handle is the worst part, if yours has one of those long tails on it.

It should be covered pretty good in any service manual.

Quite a few places, actually. Here's a few:

here - delt with them once, but they don't have everything
here - Never delt with them but good prices

Here - apparently a great place, but can't find your rewind.

Even Iboats sells some popular parts, but I couldn't find your rewind spring there either. All the '18-####' numbers you see are aftermarket company Sierra part numbers. NAPA autoparts can order them out of their marine catalog (same thing). Johnny/Rude dealers can get you OEM parts, as well as maxrules.

Lots of other places too, just hunt around.

EDIT: How did I miss that? Iboats does have it too. Great company there of course! Good price too. :)

Ok, i did what you said, and it seems to work, but the rope doesnt go back in real fast like it used to. Its slow twards the last foot or so. Are you sure about the 3 turns?

I forgot the last step - fiddle as necessary.

Although the manual calls for 3 turns, you might want to add an extra turn to it if you don't feel it's snappy enough, especially with fresh rope. Of course it will be just a little harder to pull then. :)
