rechipping 70 tldi?

My dealer informed me that my 70 tldi is identical in all aspects to the 90 tldi EXCEPT for the ecu. He said it was possible to swap a 90 ecu into the 70 but said it was less expensive to initially buy a whole 90 motor because the price of the ecu outweighed the difference in price over the 70.
Has anyone had experience in having their ecu reprogrammed by a performance engine company?

Not true and no...There are additional parts(s) that would have to be changed and the ECU could be re programmed, but the company doing it would need to have a 90 ECU to pirate the specs from before they could change them on the 70.
