I went out for 5 hours the other day and rean my troll
motor. I was going to reharge my battery but thought I would ask....Is it best to run the battery down before recharging or can I recharge anytime it's a little low?
Thanks

Always recharge it after every use. Time spent at less than 100% state of charge will shorten its life and reduce its capacity as permanent sulfation develops.

Top it off every couple weeks if you're not using it. Better yet get a smart charger that will keep it fully charged.

I agree 100 percent. Recharge as soon as possible. A starting battery discharged more than 20 percent so still has 80 percent left will do damage. Deep cycle batteries discharged more than 50 percent will do damage.

The longer it is discharged the more damage is done.
Fully regharge after every trip as soon as possible.
Get a good automatic charger 10 to 15 amps and fully charge. Also fully charge at least once a month in summer and at least every 2 month in winter. More often or a charger with a battery maintainer mode is even better.

Yep. Harbor Freight has their 12v float chargers on sale for $5. I need to go get three or four or twelve...d:)
