Re: rebuilt powerhead purchase

The normal powerhead assy is like a automotive short block assy.

The powerhead comes with the cylinder head installed, but does not include the intake manifold, nor any other fuel or ignition component. Those items are to be transferred from your powerhead to the new/rebuilt one.

Keep in mind that powerheads do not blown up by themselves, something caused it such as fouled carburetors, weak erratic spark, improperly adjusted timing, etc. Failure to correct the cause will result in a repeat of the powerhead failure problem.

Re: rebuilt powerhead purchase

Thanks,Joe,for the info.My motor didnt blow. The drive shaft snapped off inside the crank. I got the peice out but the splines inside the crank are shot.I will get a new shaft and bearing assembly(its got a jet pump)along with a rebuuilt powerhead. Someone suggested to me today that I could clean out the inside the crank real good and put a new shaft with a bunch of j.b weld in it,let it cure for about a week and go for it. It might be worth a try. The shaft and bearing assembly are only $330.00.If it breaks again I would still need a powerhead but all Im out is a new shaft. The shaft itself is only $135.00.What do you think? joonch

The splines on the bottom of the crank can be replaced thus saving your crank.

None of the "experts" that i talked to never mentioned that. How is it done? does it involve removing the crank?

Joonch.... I've never seen it done so I've held off with any kind of answer. However I'm sure the crank would need to be removed from the crankcase regardless of how it's done.
