Can someone please give me some advise on who is a Honest rebuilder of marine outboard engines?<br /> I need a rebuilt powerhead for a 1984 Mercury 200 hp V6... Thanks.
You are in a retail store that sells guaranteed rebuilt powerheads, Eluder.<br /><br />Would you walk into a Ford dealership and ask who makes the best trucks?<br /><br />Think about it.
Thank You for the info, but Price$ always determines the quality of the rebuild. I need too contact the rebuilders and ask a list of questions befor deciding who is the right one for the job.
have you ever put any thought into rebuilding the powerhead yourself???<br />it can be done ...its MUCH cheaper <br />i just rebuilt my 88 200 merc and its a rocket now ...<br />ya just need good parts <br />a good machinist to repair or replace the cylinder walls and then reassemble all can be done with a repair manual ...
"but Price$ always determines the quality of the rebuild."<br /><br />Pure mythology, eluder. Price has to do with cost, market and profit, nothing more.
Well I decided to replace the cylinder heads! Are aftermarket/recons availiabe? This will get me through the season-Engine ran fine with 5 CYLS FIRING. Then I plan a complete rebuild and do it my self. Anyone know of after market parts distrubuters? Thanks any input will help.
