Are re-built EMM's more robust than the OEM ones? Do they replace the burnt out components with better ones?

I was given 3 or 4 FICHT motors.----------V-4 machines.----------------Took them because internal parts are the same as carbureted V-4.----------While taking the first one apart I realized that there is just to much stuff on these motors.---------Most dealers are not interested in them !!---------I would not run one of these motors on my boat !

Okay. But do you know about what I ask about?

I know there are places out there and what I've heard they come back better than new. I'm sure somebody will chime in with the info.

We've sent a few Ficht computers to the Florida company when one of the internal computer systems failed. The specific internal system that actually failed was reworked. They don't do a complete "overhaul", but do insure that it functions. Once reinstalled, the engines run fine again. The company does provide a limited warranty for the work they do. I would not say they are "more robust" than new-but they do work again.

Correction-Orange Beach, Alabama. DFI technologies. Ask for Chet. These guys are from the old OMC-a good bunch.

I know about them but I heard there was another place down here in Florida that also did good work.

I did find on one of the hundreds of posts I've read that they replace the voltage regulator/s with better ones. I would hope whatever buns up gets replaced with something better!

I wonder if the original firmware protected the EMM from overheating? Code 25 I guess that is?.. I am guessing they didn't but decided that might be a good idea after they had some problems with the burning up. That and water cooled came into play I guess.

Anybody ever replace an already 'replaced' EMM?
