My son and I just rebuilt the carb and fuel pump on our '66 Johnson Super Sea Horse 60HP, but I have a question to ask. As I was putting the carb back together, I mean the lower half with the top half, I had to place a new gasket in between them. My question is, should I have put sealent on the gasket or have left it dry which is what I did?

Thanks for the help and my son and I are really excited about getting the motor up and running.

I never use any sealant there, I think it would just gum things up!

Ditto....never used sealant between bowl and carb body...just the gasket.
