Hello,
I'm rebuilding the carbs on my Johnson 50esl71s... without removing it, I noticed the orifice plug looked a bit chewed up on the one carb. (Almost like somebody tried to remove it and snarfed it up, or snarfed it upon replacement.) I'm still waiting on my rebuild kits, but decided to blow a little deep creep through the orifice plug and then some air. Little bits of green came out. Should I attempt to remove the orifice plug and replace it? Also, do I need to remove the 2 core plugs during the rebuild (0307542 CORE PLUG / 0306442 CORE PLUG?) Sorry if these questions are stupid, but this is my 1st carb rebuild. Does anyone else have any advice?
Thanks,
MJ

Yes, remove carb/s and welch plugs=(core), high speed jet/s, low speed jet/s soak overnight in clean carb cleaner, rinse with fresh clean water, blow dry with compressed air, install parts and carb/s kit/s, adjust float/s, reinstall carb/s and linkage, prime and start engine, allow to get to operating temp, adjust low idle jet/s, adjust idle speed in gear to spects! Happy Boating!
