rebuild or scrap??

I got burned on a rebuild of a 96 johnson 150..it was bored out once incorrectly now it is in pieces one cylinder wall is scorched and at least 2 pistons need replacing..rebuild again or scrap?? whats a fair price to rebuild again??

wrat,<br /><br />That is a relatively new engine to be scrapping. I would look at the reman. engines on this (i-boats) site.

What do you mean by bored incorrectly? How far over was it punched out? I assume the cylinder wall is scuffed/scratched?

yep scuffed cylinder wall...I mean the tolerances were to tight between piston and wall..<br />piston was 30 over so

I wouldn't think twice about rebuiding a l996 150 (what's the price of a new one?) That bad cyl. can be rebored to .044" oversized to fit a wisco piston, Under a hundred bux each a gasket set and you are in buisniss. However I would have the block bored at a reputible machine shop.<br />Have Fun
