Rebuild or replace weber carb

Dropped the boat off at the mechanic for some bellow replacement and told him while your at it to take a look at the carb as i thought it might have been running a little rich. He told me that the accelerator pump is pretty weak. He said unless it really is bogging down that i could probably wait before doing anything with it. I was thinking during the winter to either have it worked on just maybe replace it with a new edlerbrock. Whats you thoughts if i should repair or replace? What is in the boat now is a 4bl weber hooked up to a 5.7lx merc

That is an easy one to rebuild as long it has not had water in it for any length of time.

Lets see.....$40 to rebuild.... Or $500 to replace

I too would rebuild. Remember bigger carb doesn't mean more power. And a different carb equally doesn't mean more power. If your engine is performing pretty good now, I would easily rebuild and happy boating. JMHO

Webbers are easy to tune and rebuild. If you suspect it's running rich then just retune it. Takes like 5 minutes with a vacuum gauge.
