Rebuild cost?

My 4.3 liter Mercruiser has water in the oil. Probably a cracked block. Can someone tell me what the average price of a rebuild if I take this to a marina?
I know it depends on what is wrong. Cost of a longblock or a shortblock with labor? I just want to know before I go to the marina. Thanks.

$1,500 for the reman long block and around me its $900 to drop it in.. not sure what that includes thou as i never looked into it.. just did it myself..

I just had one done. After much thinking, I didn't order the block myself. I didn't want any finger pointing going on if there was something wrong or if something wasn't right. I went to a mechanic and he ordered one with a two year, unlimited hours, warranty for it. Total for the engine and labor was about $3600.

That sounds like a jasper-unlimited hours with 2 years, run it hard after break-in.

average price for a 4.3 is 3500 to 4500 depending on any additional items your shop might need to replace
