Motor in signature. So I will soon be done with my rebuild. 3+ years and counting. Just in time for ice in Pennsylvania :-(

Anyway, my uncle and I carried the motor down to the basement a few years back. He weighs about 100 pounds soaking wet and we had a hell of a time with it. The two of us barely weigh as much as the motor. I'd like to carry the major systems out one by one and assemble on the hull of the boat. I can't see why this would be a problem since I mounted it on a motor stand for disassembly. It shouldn't matter whether I reassemble on a motor stand or on the boat. However, I thought I'd ask in case there is some problem that will rear its ugly head half way through the reassembly and force me to take it apart again.

I suppose it would be best to mount parts in this order:

1) mid-section swivel bracket and exhaust tube assembly
2) lower unit
3) powerhead
4) carb
5) disty
6) stator and flywheel
7) starter motor
8) odds and ends

I'm sure that a few of these steps can be rearranged. If reassembly on the boat won't work for any reason, let me know. If some of the steps above must absolutely be in a particular order, let me know. If this should work the way it is, give a quick reply such as "that should work". Thanks.

I see no problem. But at first, I thought you were going to say the boat was in the basement. Old story.
