While not at the same time, after dropping the lower unit is it possible to remove the rear motor leg cover without pulling the powerhead? Different question, with everything in place is it possible to remove the support plate without pulling the powerhead? I have the Clymer but it's not clear if this can be done. Thanks for any answers.

The rear cover can be removed.
The bottom cowl can be loosened but not removed unless you remove all the carbs/coils etc.J

Thanks for info. My midleg fills with water after running from hole in exhaust boot and support plate has a crack probably from PO usage of a crowbar to slide engine.
