What is this hose for?

Its a long tube attached to the bottom of my 4.3 i/o. Is it an oil hose? I thought the oil came out the dipstick tube?
And while I'm at it...
What is this thing?

My Islander has a 45 gallon livewell. Is it somehow related to that?
And what about the brass threaded plug with cable?
Last dumb question.
Do I need to apply anything to the threads or o-rings when I reinstall these drain plugs?

Re: Really dumb questions about "extra" bits on my boat

mercruiser started putting drain hoses on engines a while ago. the shower clip should be tossed. there should be a swivel attached to the garboard plug. the hose keeps the garboard plug from getting lost, and the swivel allows you to install/remove the plug. then when time to do an oil change, simply pull the hose out the plug hole, and place into bucket. much easier than pulling from dip stick.

the stand tube is for your live well. it should thread into the drain. it keeps the water level at the height of the tube.

the drain plugs have o-rings. no sealant

If you change your oil that way make sure you warm the engine up first (on muffs) or it will take all summer for the oil to drain.

The shower curtain clip is to keep it attached where you can find it.

your garboard plug is in the little plastic bag next to your stand-pipe.

Even if you do warm up the engine it takes forever. I tried to drain my 8.1 through the drain tube. After waiting along time I went out to dinner. I came back and it was STILL draining.
