Re:Trim Sender.

I have a Regal 2400 with a Volvo 5.7 Gi and DPS stern drive. Does anybody know where the trim sensor gets it's power from? I want to have the trim gauge work as soon as the batteries are turned on. Currently, it only works when the ignition is turned on. I have changed the gauge 12 VDC input to battery power but the sender get's it's power from someplace else. My manuals don't cover any of this and I posted a thread to the Regal page and didn't get a bite. My suspicion is that the sender gets it's power from the engine ECU....but if somebody can enlighten me, I would be grateful.

Re: Trim Sender.

What model is this Volvo? Mine gets its power form the gauge itself but I wonder if you have the version with the module that prevents trimming up while running.

Re: Trim Sender.

The Engine is the 2008 5.7Gi & the drive is the DPX unit (Dual Prop.). The reason I want to drive the gauge is to know what position the drive is in as soon as I switch the batteries on. My trim switch is a piece of junk that sticks every now and again. The thing has been replaced twice in two years so I'm trying to find another fix before I tear my drive up. I've checked out the gauge. There are four terminals. One is +12 VDC one is -12 VDC One is the sender output (+5.8 VDC to +2.4 VDC depending on drive position) and the other is a ground (Reads zero volts all the time) as best as I can tell. The source for the sender has to be someplace other than the gauge. My drive will go full travel in ether direction regardless of whether the ignition is on, or off. Thanks for the reply.
