RE: S200TXRU Help with oil transfer problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have issues with remote tank oil transfer, I have voltage and ground right to remote oil pump on brown and black with key on and emergency switch does activate the oil pump. but no oil transfer when I actvate the oil sensor. the alarm does go off, I installed a good used oil level sensor and replaced the harness from the engine to the remote pump, Checking voltage On black/red pos meter on brown and neg on black red shows about 9.83volts if the oil sensor is activated or not. Reading through the threads where exactly is the remote tank switch? and how can I check the ground is completing from the ECU. I was thinking to put pos meter to 12volt and neg to black/red out of ecu then activate the oil sensor? would this work? can anyone help, Thanks,

Tom,
If your remote tank is full you should have a ground path on black and black/red wire. If not then you have a bad wire or bad level sensor. In my case I had ground path on black but not on black/red wire. When tank if full ground path should travel from black through sensor to black/red. If tank is low ground path will go from black and stop at sensor. So if tank is full and only ground path on black wire then sensor level is not letting ground path through which means you need a new remote level sensor or remote tank switch.. I think.. I just learned this yesterday..:D

1996 and up V6, black and black red at the remote tank are only used to supply the ECU with information as to the remote oil tank level. it either has enough to supply automatic transfer or it does not.
switch close auto transfer can occur, switch open no auto transfer.
break a wire and the ecu see's it as the switch is open.
now the gigger, 96 V6, require the engine to be running for normal auto transfer to occur.
any abnormal tach display such as blinking arrows?

Hello and thanks for your help rodbolt and roger, I get all three arrows flashing when the oil level sensor is activated on the engine, is the level sensor on the remote tank able to be serviced it seems on there pretty good, if so then I assume the switch is built into it? also is the voltage reading I get from the black/red seem normal? also I started it up last night and activated the oil level sensor but couldn't tell if there was transfer as the motor tank is full and put my thumb on the remote pump but didn't feel it running, maybe I will disconnect it at the fitting and see if it pumps while running.

Re: S200TXRU remote oil tank issues

one more time, put the voltmeter away for checking the remote switch.
use the ohms function.
3 arrows flashing indicates the remote switch is good.
NO SENSORS for OIL on that motor.
simple on/off SWITCHES.
3 arrows flashing indicates the ECU sees a low engine tank level with adequate oil in the remote for transfer.
a condition that normally cannot happen.
so the pump should turn on and run 180 seconds then turn off.
with the remote tank at half full and the engine tank drained turn the key on, you should have oil pump on for 180 seconds with the engine not running.
the engine tank switch can be tested with an ohm meter.
float up blue/white is closed turning the pump off, float at mid point blue/green shound close turning the pump on, float down the blue red will close sounding the audible and placing the CDI in RPM reduction.
if you remove the engine float/screen assy always do it with the tank drained and always retrive and replace the foam seal.

Well imagine that!! good things happen when you follow step by step instructions. It filled the tank with the key on engine not running to between the two arrow lines. I used the manual switch to top it up to the top line. Also did find the o-ring floating around the bottom when I drained it. it must have been a bad ground on the black wire in the old harness from engine to remote tank as it showed no continuity. Do I now trust this system under operating conditions or is there more test, Thanks for all your help RODBOLT you the man.
