Hi Guys, I am repowering my boat which is a 16ft Spectrum Alumn.I now have a 1995 70hp Force and I get about 35mph The Suzuki dealer thinks I should have a 50Hp DFI 4 stroke. He says my Force 70 would be about the same as their 50 whick is rated Hp at prop. I have also been told that Force after 1993 Is rated at prop also. I am afraid the Suzuki 50 might not be enought, any bigger 4-stroke the weight goes way up with a 60-70 hp.Any one familiar with those motors, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul

Re: Re-Powering Boat

I used a boat this summer that was a 16 ft aluminum V hull something or other, but it had a 90 horse Honda 4 stroke on it, and it handled that motor just fine. In fact, that boat was pretty darn fast, hit in the high 40s if I remember rightly. It was a dealerships boat, so I don't think it was overpowered.

Inventor, It runs now, but all you have to do is skim through the postings to see that more than half of them are problems with Force. I want to head that off before it happens to me. Paul

Re: Re-Powering Boat

PaulP,a lot of first timers have Force resulting in many mistakes being made by the operators, not the motor.
The salesman is taking you down to 50 hp because they are heavy, and you can't take the weight of a equivalent hp. You do produce 70 hp. at the prop with the Force.
Don't be bambooziled!
